I know that many people have talked over the past year about using a Wii to get the exercise but I was sitting on the sidelines, sad because I did not have any Nintendo Wii.
Well that has changed all since I got a Nintendo Wii yesterday for kids for Christmas. I'm not sure if the Wii is really going to be a gym, but I'm really excited about Christmas morning and I'm trying this out.
I just ran into a site for a Wii workout called Wii Healthy. The site has a training program that I have to try and see how well it works.
Really the Wii looks more fun than exercise, but if you move then you get the right exercise? Well, I'm sure we'll soon be making a bunch of more Wii-related "pick-up" type types so it'll be fun again to see as I really can take part.
Now responding to everything Nintendo has heard and seen for the Wii response. Nintendo has come out with a real fitness program called Wii Fit. The idea behind the Wii Fit is that you get a board of about 18 inches or so wide and do some exercises on it and see yourself (or a sensible fax of yourself) on the screen. You can also track your results just like everyone else in the family. I can imagine this whole idea of eliminating where you can have fitness competitions with other people on the internet. Very exciting to be sure.
If you and your family are looking for a Wii and you live in Canada, I posted a few tips on my Technology Blog about how to get a Wii. If you live in the US there are some great articles here otherwise follow my other suggestion and just watch the shops and network with the gaming department managers at WalMart and Target stores.
